About Southwest Albuquerque, New Mexico:

Southwest Albuquerque, NM Homes for Sale, Condos, Townhouse, Townhomes, Land and Real Estate

The Albuquerque Real Estate in the southwest metropolitan area of Albuquerque has some refreshing contrasts. This area includes two distinct communities, the South Valley, and the Southwest Mesa.

The beautiful Rio Grande Bosque is a ribbon of life through the South Valley. Surrounding it are many rural areas with tall trees, small farms, and green pastures. You’ll see gardens, horses, animals, fruit trees, and an older rural feeling. The South Valley is not just rural as it has many urban areas as well. The southern part of Downtown Albuquerque blends into the South Valley with neighborhoods such as Barelas and Atrisco. Many homes and properties in the South Valley have deep family roots and go back generations.

The “Southwest Mesa” area, as it’s called, is the Albuquerque Real Estate on the plateau South of Central Ave and West of the South Valley. This area of Albuquerque is where you’ll find many newer subdivisions and many new home options. There is room for expansion in the Southwest, as land is plentiful (for now), so Albuquerque’s growth will continue to the south and west for some time.

Isleta Pueblo is located to the South of this area and is actually the southern boundary of Albuquerque. Originally established around the 1300s, the name Isleta comes from the Spanish language and means “Little Island.” In addition to a casino, there is a beautiful golf course along the river.

This southwest portion of Albuquerque is a dynamic mix of new and old and will continue to change and evolve as we move into the future.
